CONTRACT PAYMENT: The financial freedom of his family, so his mother no longer has to work herself to the bone to support her children, and can finally spend as much time with those she loves as she desires.
QUESTIONNAIRE:● What does family mean to you and who do you consider a part of your family?
Family can be many things- family is the blood you have, and you blood you care for. It's in the children he helped raise while his mother could not, and the woman who breaks her back to support the ones she loves. It's in the boys he grows up with and shares a dream with, who he'd follow through hell and back with the smell of exhaust in the air and blooming of bruises crawling across their skin. Family is who you can depend on, who you love, and who you'd be willing to risk nearly everything for.
Family is his sisters, his mother, and Toman. Draken is his sworn brother, his other half in a sense, but all the other members under his care and standing by his side are also family enough for him to be willing to go to war for them. No matter what happens, some part of him will always consider these people close to him- even when he gets hurt, he wants to keep promises, so they can go back to the way they always were before things went wrong.● What is your favorite diversion? Hobbies, indulgences, vices? Would you put off important things for that diversion, or would you be more strict about how you spend your time and/or money?
Mitsuya has basic teenage diversions: he like hanging out with his friends, going to the beach, getting ice cream from the corner store...he doesn't tend to indulge himself very often, and he doesn't carry a lot of vices besides basically being a bosozoku. His hobby goes hand in hand with his diversions, however, and that's his talent of handicraft. Sewing, stitching, designing clothing especially. It's his passion in life, and his one true calling, something he dreams of doing professionally in time. He's promised to do so to multiple people, and even tends to work in his off-time just to stay ahead of the game.
Of course, Mitsuya is smart. He prefers to not put off things that matter just for a chance to deal with a few seams, and tends to know what's important and what's not- he won't shirk his responsibilities or get rusty, even willing to use his free time to work on it, because things get far more complicated when they end up piling up. He's also not wasteful with his money, and tends to shop smart in order to make the most of his passion. There's nothing wrong with indulging yourself once in a while, but he doesn't tend to make it a habit.● How do you react to betrayal? How severe must a betrayal be for you to consider it such?
He's tasted betrayal before- a few times, really. It depends on the situation, but it ends up cutting deep, no matter the situation. When someone you trust ends up throwing that trust out, hurting you or others you care about, it shoves a wrench in the gears. Mentally and emotionally. Mitsuya is better at dealing with these sorts of things himself, trying to keep everybody else's morale up and attempting to keep them together, but in the end he keeps those things to himself to deal with later. It's easier for everyone that way, as he's used to fostering things on his shoulders.
As for severity...he hates when someone lies blatantly, keeps things that should have been explained earlier to themselves, even if he can act hypocritical about it and understand the necessity at times. The worst, however, would be having all his effort and loyalty, time, and blood thrown in his face. He's a guy with a lot going on, and naturally, any time he gives up is pretty precious. To be insulted in such a way...he'd be furious. Frustrated. Distraught. If that was to be the end of it, then so be it- he can see where things lie.
...Or so he says, but Mitsuya is, eventually, far more forgiving than he would prefer. It's hard to detach from things you love, and if the opportunity arose to make things right, he likely would take it- but not without a good swift punch, of course.● How important is loyalty to you? What does it take to earn your loyalty? What extents are you willing to go through to maintain loyalty, and respect the loyalty others might have invested in you?
Loyalty...is very, very important. Mitsuya has grown up in an environment that would test anybody's patience and loyalty, forced to become a parent to his siblings at an early age. It was something he grew to resent after a while, feeling suffocated under the needs of his sisters as opposed to his own, but eventually came to understand (with some much-needed sense smacked into him) that some things are far more important. He met somebody strong, came to admire him, and eventually decided to become loyal to both his family and said person who would eventually become his sworn brother, and eventually the man who he would come to respect with his whole soul. Mitsuya is a person who pays back debts, respects the strong, and while it's not necessarily easy to earn, a good enough person can garner his loyalty quickly as long as they prove themselves worth trusting.
He takes pride in being a person loyal to his gang, his family, and his friends- even willing to put himself in harms way for the sake of those he cares about. He may make decisions he personally disagrees with, and defer to the words of those he follows, should he find his trust strong enough- sometimes there are disagreements, but things can turn for the better should they just dedicate themselves to fixing it. Mitsuya is also kind and a willing ear for those under him, willing to foster their dedication and ask their opinions. That being said, if you're going to act stupid, he's going to tell you straight up- no point in doing something wholly stupid if you can help it.
POWERS & ABILITIES: Mitsuya is, unfortunately, just a normal flesh-and-blood human. No fancy powers, no unnatural abilities, just the ability to throw a really nasty right hook. He's a bit more resilient and strong than some, but that's from training, it's nothing inhuman.
SUITABILITY: Tokyo Revengers is, evidently, a tragedy as much as it is a story of bonds. The way to hell is paved with good intentions, and over the course of the series, Mitsuya has seen/dealt with multiple people dying, with some of them being his best friends. One of his fellow founding members stabbed himself to death to free another of guilt, his sworn brother was gunned down protecting another, said sworn brother also barely survived being stabbed in a gang scuffle years prior...Mitsuya himself has also nearly died on several occasions, nearly getting beaten to death standing up to his second-in-command's abusive older brother. Mitsuya has felt immeasurable pain, both physically and emotionally, and it has made him all the stronger despite it. That being said, he isn't a saint himself, being a delinquent who's cracked just as many bones as he's had broken.
Besides the violence and the death, Mitsuya is also best friends with a guy who literally grew up in a brothel, and has visited his 'place of residence' on more than one occasion. Sex barely phases him as a concept, so that's not a problem topic. He has a distaste for drugs, but they're a part of the gang scene, so the idea doesn't particularly ruffle him up as it may for some. Still, in his opinion, they're just kids duking it out, so he or none of his friends have stakes bothering with that stuff.
FACTION SUITABILITY:● SHUTEN - Mitsuya has been throwing hands since thirteen- being one of the founding members of a motorcycle gang, interested in turf wars and eventually proving their might in order to be taken seriously, it would appeal to him the most. It's the environment where he's thrived, met most of his best friends, and spilled blood in the name of his found family. Honor is important, to the people you support and the ones who support you, and the structural feel would make him feel right at home. Necessarily, he wouldn't quite enjoy flying under another's flag, but it's the closest thing to normality, so he'll take it.
Mitsuya prefers to use his fists to protect, but he doesn't mind a good brawl once in a while to keep himself from getting rusty. Not one for hoarding money or hanging out in gambling dens or drowning himself in liquor, Mitsuya would likely try to gain a bit of footing- not too much, not like some, but enough to give him some responsibility and keep himself on his toes. He's capable of listening, not all too fond of lying, and has the calm disposition to make himself a reliable person within Shuten's ranks. Easygoing, ready to offer a helping hand or some much-needed criticism.
● TAMAMO - Insight is, naturally, important. The more you know of a person, the easier it is to know their tells, know when they're lying, know when they need help. Mitsuya isn't one for digging into people's wounds with his own knowledge, but he's also not one to back down when challenged. However, selfish indulgence simply isn't his thing. He practically gave up his life to take to care of his siblings, acting as their mother and father while their own mother worked tirelessly to support them all, and even gives her time to herself on her days off rather than attempt to have her take more responsibility. He contemplated running, once, and came to realize his own selfishness in the process. No, he isn't one to run from his troubles. He'd rather face them head on, even if they hit him with the speed of a truck. As a captain of Toman, as well as an older brother, he simply has responsibilities he cannot afford to throw away just to live a little more freely.
That being said, Mitsuya does have a bit of a dislike for the status quo, and even states he dislikes routine jobs- which is why in the future he ends up working by himself out of his own apartment and fashioning whatever he likes with his own hands rather than tie himself to someone else making demands. He would thrive in the expensive, glamorous fashion scene of Tamamo, if only because fashion and design is his passion in life, and would be relatively unbothered by the sex aspect of the faction. His sworn brother, after all, lives in a brothel- A brothel he went to as a child, playing cards with call-girls, and continued to visit after. While he stated he wished he could be free like them at the time, the harsh response from the girls were what made him realize how much he already had, and thus he heavily respects those in the industry for the dangers they face and hardships they go through.
● SUTOKU - Most of Toman would agree physical strength is most important, and Mitsuya is inclined to agree, usually- but having a plan is always a good thing. Mitsuya pays attention to his surroundings, picking up bits and pieces here and there, because he knows how important it is to avoid being woefully unprepared. Sometimes, it can't be avoided, but as long as you take the steps to at least attempt to work things out, nobody can say you didn't try. In addition, he tends to be more of the pacifist members of his gang- he doesn't go out of his way to pick fights if they're unnecessary, and doesn't do violence for the sake of violence. He attempts to be a voice of reason, going through all the angles until it just isn't enough...or he has a fit of stubbornness, which can be hit or miss. He has done some stupid things, because he feels there's simply no other way, but he generally uses his brain more often than not.
It's true that he finds it's better for people to defer to those who have the wisdom and charisma to lead- after all, they follow Mikey, because his charisma is simply magnetic. Every captain in Toman is unique, even united under one banner, and their opinions tend to hold weight despite them eventually deferring to their leader's decisions. Mitsuya can respect the power held by simply knowing more than others, and even if he'd prefer to be in the streets making a statement, sometimes you do need a man in the background.
● ENMA - Mitsuya is...well, a bit nicer and considerably more of a pacifist than some of his fellows, but he's still a delinquent at heart, with a foul mouth and a lot of blood on his knuckles to go with it. It's for the sake of protecting people, but it's more vigilante than law-abiding- he's ditched the scene when cops show up on more than one occasion, due to his preference for staying out of juvie. He'd likely feel very out of place, amongst the type of people he'd been aiming to avoid most of his life, but he'd find some way to work around it.
If there was some way to circumvent the law, he'd definitely dig deep and find it, for the sake of helping out his friends should they end up getting in trouble. He'd rather not openly abuse the cracks in the system, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. His loyalty is to his friends first and foremost, but he'd do his best to keep up the act of a decent enough member of the department. Just don't expect him to truly go above and beyond for the cause, since it definitely isn't his own.
